In Temora Shire, community is everything. Our reputation for being ‘the friendly shire’ extends to welcoming people from all cultures who value kindness and inclusivity. In 2019, Temora Shire Council formed the Embrace Temora committee with the aim of celebrating the diversity of our community and assisting new Australians to resettle in the shire. The program forms part of a wider strategy to address workforce shortages by matching skilled migrant workers in metropolitan areas with local employers.
Temora Shire is predominantly an agriculturally-based economy, with a growing aviation sector. The growing economy means we have more jobs than people, so Council continues to invest in quality community facilities to help to attract and retain residents.
The Shire consists of the primary town of Temora and villages of Ariah Park and Springdale. The total population is around 6,300. We are located 50 minutes north of Wagga Wagga, 2.5 hours west of Canberra, and 4.5 hours south west of Sydney.
