The Sunshine Coast is located in South East Queensland, approximately 90 minutes north of Brisbane, within the lands of the Kabi Kabi peoples and the Jinibara peoples, the Traditional Custodians of the region.
Sunshine Coast Council acknowledges the enduring connection of First Nations peoples to Country and is committed to truth-telling, reconciliation and working in partnership to build a shared future.
The Sunshine Coast is home to 365,000 people and is expected to grow by another 153,000 by 2041. More than 20% of residents were born overseas and the region is home to people from 170 different countries, speaking over 110 languages. Each year, the also welcomes 3,000 international students and 230,000 international visitors.
We are proud to be a Premium Member of the Welcoming Cities network and we have commenced the accreditation process against the Welcoming Cities Standard. This reflects Council’s commitment to building a community where everyone feels welcome, included and able to contribute.
