The City of Melville sits upon the shore of the Swan River, in Perth, Western Australia.
The City is a proudly diverse and multicultural City, where each community contributes to the City’s character. Of our 102,393 residents, 32% were born overseas, 22% from countries where English is not the first spoken language and 1% are of Aboriginal descent.
The City of Melville vision is “Working together, to achieve community wellbeing, for today and tomorrow”.
One of the city six aspirations from the 2016 -2026 Strategic Community Plan is A Sense of Community its objective being ‘a range of local community services, events and cultural activities throughout the year for people to get to know one another and do things together’. With keys goals of:

The City has a Social Justice Advocate position responsible for Social Justice and Access and Inclusion. The City is currently developing a Social Justice Policy and associated informing documents to ensure consistency across the organisation and to promote and celebrate community diversity.
