Embracing Diversity in Albury
As our population grows and becomes more culturally diverse, our vision is to strengthen Albury as a welcoming, inclusive, and accessible Local Government Area (LGA).
The Albury region boasts a unique multicultural heritage. Traditionally the home of the Wiradjuri people, the area saw an influx of German, Dutch, Italian, Greek, and Polish migrants after World War II, with many settling in Bonegilla.
More recently, Albury has become a regional settlement hub for families from the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Nepal, Bhutan, Sudan. Through the addition of these and other multicultural communities, Albury has become a popular choice for settlement, enriching the already vibrant and cosmopolitan character of the LGA.
In Albury, every member of our community has the freedom to express their cultural, linguistic, and religious traditions without fear or discrimination. We are deeply committed to our culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) communities, recognising their rich heritage. Our commitment is rooted in a spirit of celebration and community harmony, ensuring Albury remains a place where diversity is embraced, and everyone feels at home.
