Inclusion Guidelines for public aquatic facilities

Inclusion Guidelines for public aquatic facilities – how local governments and private operators in Australia can create welcoming and inclusive aquatic facilities for all.

Inclusion Guidelines for public aquatic facilities is for local government workers who have carriage over aquatic facilities and for private operators who lease the facilities from councils. The guidelines provide ideas and strategies to ensure aquatic facilities are welcoming and safe placers for all. Each section outlines the general needs and context and follows with questions to ask your local government colleagues and facility leaseholders. The approaches outline suggestions, solutions and examples that point to inclusion and welcome.

These guidelines were developed by Welcoming Australia and The Aqua English Project, with input from local governments, contractors, aquatic participants and those yet to access a swimming program.
